April 1, 2016, 9:00 AM: We are retired!
It's official, Cole Hollow is now our full-time home out here in the middle of nowhere. We're loving it, and just have to unpack all these boxes.
May 23, 2016, This morning, we had a visit from one of Punxsutawney Phil's Maryland cousins. This groundhog was running around on our deck and posed standing nicely right in front of the door.
June 20, 2016 The parade of wildlife continues!
Just a few minutes ago, this black bear strolled through our yard. He's probably a one-year old who is just venturing out on his own.
May 30, 2016, Memorial Day weekend our friends from Indianapolis were with us. We took the boat out on Monday for the first cruise of the season. Retired life just keeps getting better.
June 13, 2016, You know that summer is close when the new fawns appear. One of the does (we've named her Jane) who frequents our yard had twins this year. We think one is a boy because he is a wild child, but his sister is better behaved.
July 12, 2016 I was doing some work around the garage and heard a rustling in the ferns. Seems we have a resident snake. We think it's a garter snake, but if you have a better idea, please let us know... He seemed friendly, but no apple.
July 1, 2016 A new addition to Cole Hollow, a dog kennel, established to accommodate our visiting "Granddog" Latte, who brought with him our daughter and son-in-law.
May 15, 2016, So, who knew we have lizards here at Cole Hollow? Actually, this is an Eft, the land-phase of the Eastern Red Newt. There were two, and they seemed to be making way to the lake.
